Come and join BCCTaipei's Women in Business Committee for the "Nice Farm CSR event", learning and experiencing how to grow rice while doing good for your community at the same time!
We're cooperating with Nice Farm (玩米主義), an organic rice farm in Miao-Li, which has been in the market for over 40 years!
This event will have 4 different stages held on 3 different dates through the growing season, as it takes time for the rice to grow. Each stage will include one different aspect of farm work and one fun DIY activity. 1000 bags of rice (1.2Kg/bag) will be donated to charities (Salvation Army Puli Youth Service Centre, SOS Village, SOS Children's Villages Taiwan, The Garden of Hope Foundation and Happy Mount Colony) after the final harvesting stage.
For the second stage, we will be driving ducks to the rice farm. For thousands of years, rice farmers in the Pacific Rim have deployed flocks of ducks into their rice fields to help control weeds and pests. Duck and Rice Farming is largely an Asian movement with the goal of protecting the environment and consumer health while improving the soil and farm viability. These refinements result in lower labor costs and greater benefits of weed and pest control and increased plant health and soil fertility.
Each event will be conducted mostly in Chinese but some basic translation will also be available for the main activity.
Each stage also includes a flavourful custom-made lunch to enjoy after your hard work, and there'll also be afternoon tea!
