BCCTaipei - The UK Pavilion at Energy Taiwan 2024

The British Office Taipei, together with the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (BCCTaipei) are hosting the UK Pavilion at Energy Taiwan 2024, showcasing the UK's role in offshore wind and renewable energy. As Taiwan becomes the UK's largest offshore wind market in the Asia-Pacific, the pavilion will highlight UK companies' expertise and contributions, emphasising the strong economic ties between the UK and Taiwan.

The pavilion features solutions from 13 UK companies, including wind farm planning, consultancy, O&M services, and advanced technologies.

UK Renewable Industry

Building on its strengths in decarbonisation and clean growth technology, the UK is at the forefront of offshore wind deployment in Europe and is the second-largest offshore wind market globally. As of 2024, the UK has an ambitious pipeline of nearly 100 GW of offshore wind projects. With 15GW capacity already installed, the UK has some of the world's largest operational wind farms. UK has the ambition to deploy up to 50 gigawatts (GW) by 2030, with up to 5GW coming from floating offshore wind. The UK is making significant strides in accelerating deployment and expanding supply chain capabilities, ensuring that the industry remains resilient and competitive​.

UK Offshore Wind in Taiwan

The UK's partnership with Taiwan on renewable energy, particularly offshore wind, is a shining example of international cooperation. For nearly two decades, the UK has shared its expertise in energy policy, industrial development, and R&D with Taiwan. The British Chamber of Commerce Taipei's UK Renewables Committee plays an active role in enhancing the local talent pool and facilitating business cooperation, which is crucial for the development of Taiwan's offshore wind industry. Taiwan is the UK's largest offshore wind market in the Asia-Pacific region, with over 40 UK companies establishing a presence here, many using Taiwan as a hub for the broader region. This collaboration continues to grow, with recent conferences highlighting advances in floating wind technology and emerging renewable energy solutions, ensuring both the UK and Taiwan are on track to meet their ambitious net-zero targets​.

Thirteen UK companies will be exhibiting at the UK Pavilion to demonstrate the UK's supply chain expertise in renewable energy infrastructure, offshore wind farm planning and construction, engineering consulting, O&M services, green energy industry recruitment, cable protection systems, ocean surface measurement, satellite telecommunication networks, inspection services, and temporary power and temperature solutions fPreviewor offshore wind farms.
