The number and proportion of people aged 60 years and older in the world population is increasing at an unprecedented pace. By 2030, 1 in 6 people will be aged 60 years or over, reaching 1.4 billion. In Taiwan, super-aged society is a soon-to-be reality where more than 20% of the population would be over 65 years old by 2025.

This historic change is dramatically expanding the demand for innovations to meet the needs of an ageing society. To maximize the late years and add quality to quantity for people, it requires a comprehensive healthy-ageing agenda and collaboration of diverse sectors and stakeholders that will transform the challenge into opportunities in a longevity economy.

The forum will bring together leading public and private sector institutions in Taiwan to discuss health interventions from immunizations to new technologies around smart ageing that could contribute to the physical health, resilience and wellbeing of the elderly. We also invited the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing (NICA) to share their pioneering work on how to utilize data and bring innovative technologies and services to the market, solve the unmet care and supporting needs of aging societies.

  • This session will be conducted mainly in Mandarin
  • A limited number of interpretation devices are provided for foreign participants.
