The Story of Ridgeview (Award Winning English Sparkling Wine)
In November 2017, "The Judgement of Paris" host, Steven Spurrier, invited experts from various locations from all over the world; gathering everyone in London for a blind Wine Tasting featuring British and French wines. The result surprised everyone, Ridgeview, a Sparkling Wine from the UK, won the competition, beating renowned champagnes from all over the world. (https://bit.ly/2Z2UiRP).
The secret? Britain is an island in a temperate climate zone. The wine industry came here with the Ancient Romans more than two thousand years ago and compared with France and Italy, the British cold weather conditions at the time hindered the development of the wine industry.
However, with the advancement of wine-making technology and changes in climate, people are starting to find out the potential of British Wine-making. English Sparkling, which is made using the Champagne method has become a rising star in the wine world.
We will taste great wines while bringing the audience, step by step, to understand the UK - a country that is important to wine - and the wines they make there.
